Here are the in demand suburbs in Darwin


A report released by realestate.com.au has shown that Darwin has seen an increase in both prices and demand in the last quarter, the city’s most sought after suburbs also identified.

Nightcliff is the most in demand suburb for houses, wherein the median house price is $665,000. Meanwhile, Fannie Bay sees a median house price of over $1 million, also proving popular among apartment-hunters.

Fannie Bay also ranked second for the top searched suburbs for houses, while Bayview ranked second in most popular suburbs for apartments. A more detailed list of the top-performing Darwin suburbs is below.

Nerida Conisbee, the chief economist of realestate.com.au, has noted that while Darwin’s real estate market was shaky earlier in the year, the city is now making a positive impact in Australia’s real estate industry.

“The market in Darwin is really up and down and this quarter it’s definitely up. Prices are up and also demand is up,” Conisbee explained.

The city’s property demand is bucking the national trend, extending to both apartments and houses, at 10.8% and 10.7% respectively. When compared to other capital cities, Darwin is second only to Hobart.

Despite this upturn, and the prediction of steady growth in prices for the coming months, this surge may not last – Darwin is a changeable market, and amid a shaky Australian real estate market, late 2018 and early 2019 could see this growth reversed.
