We’re covering some of the top suburbs in South Australia to look at why the locals love living there, and to help us we’re talking to the experts in each of those suburbs.

This week’s feature suburb is Golden Grove, and giving a written tour is Ryan Smith of Smith Partners Real Estate, who has sold real estate in the area for years.

Suburb Snapshot:

Population: 8,839
Distance to:
City: 21.5km
Freeway: 21.5km to the Port River Expressway
Schools: Pedare Christian College, Gleeson College & Golden Grove High School, Pedare Junior School & Golden Grove Primary School
Council Area: Tea Tree Gully

Why is your suburb so attractive for those looking to buy in the area?

Golden Grove has high quality schooling, sporting facilities and shopping facilities all within a 5 minute drive. We have the prestige area of Spring Hill, but also more affordable areas with a variety of block sizes and home sizes to suit everyone. All the homes are no older than a 1989 build, as that’s when the area began development.

What are the best places around your suburb to eat?

The Golden Grove Village Shopping Centre is currently (Sept 2017) re-developing the Centre to include a indoor/outdoor food court with a greater variety of dining options.

The Centre already has the recently renovated Zitto’s Cafe which offers a great menu and is very popular with locals.

For Asian food we have Bangkok’s Kitchen with an amazing Crispy Chicken Wing side dish. For Indian we have the Indian Brasserie with incredible Naan bread and curries. For quick and easy Italian we have arguably one of the best Fasta Pasta restaurants in South Australia!

What’s the best entertainment around?

Golden Grove has plenty of walking trails & parks around including Cobbler Creek Reserve & Goldenfields Reserve.

The end of every cul de sac has greenery and footpaths and a lot of them end in playgrounds for the kids. For the dog lovers, there is a secure dog park on Bicentennial, to let your pooch run off the lead and meet other friendly dogs.

For some Adult time we would recommend the Golden Grove Tavern. A great atmosphere, lovely staff and awesome food!

Tell us about the property market in your area

Golden Grove is an area where you can be almost certain of growth, compared to some of the other suburbs in Adelaide’s North East.

Why do you love working in your suburb?

I love living and working here. I wouldn’t live anywhere else and the people that I am privileged to work with in the area are just lovely family’s, couples & retirees.
