We’re covering some of the top suburbs in South Australia to look at why the locals love living there, and to help us we’re talking to the experts in each of those suburbs.
This week’s feature suburb is Hallett Cove, and giving a written tour is Julie Craig of Timms Real Estate

Suburb Snapshot:

Council Area: City of Marion

Why is your suburb so attractive for those looking to buy in the area?

Photographer: Dean Scott.
Hallett Cove is a vibrant and diverse suburb nestled on a stunning coastline. Just twenty-three kilometres from the Adelaide CBD, its residents include families, retirees, professionals, singles and beach lovers of all ages. I truly believe people come for the lifestyle.
The Hallett Cove Conservation Park and Marion Coastal trail bring nature lovers from all over the city to enjoy the boardwalk and vast history. Some geological formations are more than 600 million years old!
We also have amazing primary and secondary schools, which are going to the next level with redevelopment thanks to new funding. Other investments include the upgrade to Grand Central Reserve with its new amphitheatre, public art, paths and landscaped areas.

What are the best places around your suburb to eat?

Hallett Cove is full of community spirit, with many residents proudly supporting local business. In fact, the Hallett Cove Business Association recently had its very first local business of the year awards with many voting for the great selection of eateries. The clear winner was the Hallett Cove Bakery for their great customer service and quality food. I have to say the toasted teacakes and cheese and onion pasties are my favourite!

The Karrara shops continue to thrive thanks to local patrons which is wonderful to see and we have a fantastic complex in and around the Hallett Cove Shopping Centre where you will find a variety of eateries comprising restaurants, takeaway options and boutique cafes, catering for all styles of dining.

The locals love The Cove Tavern! If you’re looking for something with a view, the Boat Shed cafe may be just what you’re looking for.

What’s the best entertainment around?

You’ll never be left wondering what to do in Hallett Cove with our own natural wonders to explore. Our iconic Hallett Cove Boardwalk is a breathtaking clifftop walkway, that is just over a 10km round trip.
We are also very lucky to have our own Cove Civic Centre, Sports Centre and Local Churches on our doorsteps.

Something else to love about Hallett Cove is affordability – It literally has something to offer everyone. Whether you’re a first homebuyer, retiree or even wanting that luxury home with a stunning view, this great suburb certainly delivers!

Investors also speculate on this hot spot due to the fantastic access to public transportation, infrastructure and proximity to the CBD.
With brilliant schools and the easy access to major shopping centres, including Westfield Marion and Colonnades, it offers the convenience and easy lifestyle people are looking for.

Why do you love working in your suburb?

I find the local people in Hallett Cove very friendly and helpful. Being a proud resident myself I am also a member of the Hallett Cove Business Association committee. This is an opportunity for local businesses to catch up once a month to help and support each other and look at ways on how we can give back to the local residents. We have excellent representation from our local council members who regularly attend and are easily accessible.
I have worked in close community networks for many years, but I am so impressed with what Hallett Cove is able to provide its residents and businesses; the support is incredible.
