Mike Phillips from Raine & Horne Morphett Vale has continued his rapid rise in the real estate industry by recently claiming the Raine & Horne National Rookie Salesperson of the Year for 2016.
After winning the Raine & Horne SA Rookie Salesperson of the Year Award for 2015, Mike was nominated for the national award and he was victorious against some strong competition.
Mike was presented with the award at the recent Raine & Horne national conference on Hamilton Island and he said that it was a truly special occasion.
“It was great to receive the award on a national stage and especially being able to share the win with my wife, Marnie, who has supported me in my real estate career and also with the other people in the SA group at the National Conference,” said Mike.
“It was an honour to receive the award from the two senior executives of the National Raine & Horne Network and the SA CEO.”
Mike said that while he knew he was nominated for the award, he went in with the attitude that it was just great to be a part of the event no matter the result.
“Winning this national award was a huge surprise as I went to the national awards mainly thinking that it was great to be there,” said Mike.
Having claimed the Raine & Horne SA Rookie Salesperson of the Year for 2015 the year previous, Mike said that was also a big surprise.
“That was a huge surprise in itself. I didn’t know I had been nominated, so being called up as a nominee at the state awards was unexpected and then to win the award was a great result,” said Mike.
A key part of Mike’s rapid rise has been the guidance and mentoring he has received from Raine & Horne SA CEO Michael McDonald.
“He has helped by providing valuable guidance, ideas and advice on a wide range of real estate matters that have enabled me to develop myself on an ongoing basis and also continually look at improving my approach to my work practices, my clients and the services I offer to them,” said Mike.
When it comes to advice for rookies looking to make an immediate impact in the real estate business, Mike has some words of wisdom.
“Always be willing to learn at every opportunity and ask as many questions as required to make sure you can provide top quality service,” said Mike.
“It is also important to promote yourself and your results as much as possible through marketing opportunities and seek out a mentor who you respect and learn as much as you can from them.”
In terms of the future, Mike is aiming to continue to build on his growing list of achievements.
“I’m hoping to continue to build on my achievements to date while continuing to develop and increase my business contacts and to possibly own a local Raine & Horne Franchise one day.”
