A Perth agent has been banned from working in real estate for life after she was caught fabricating purchase offers.
Gayla Currie of Century 21 Max Comben in Morley, was found guilty of fabricating offers on four properties.
Currie worked as a sales representative for two years and was found to have come up with more 20 fake contracts for properties in Westminster, Balcatta, Stirling and Morley according to Perth Now.
Her employer and sales supervisor Maxwell Comben was also fined for failing to notice Currie’s lies.
It was revealed that Currie had forged signatures and finance letters from banks and even made up phone numbers.
Currie’s imaginary offers led some tenants to break lease or make repairs on their properties.
“For this deception to occur unnoticed over such a long period of time shows a serious lack of proper supervision on Mr Comben’s part and, as a result, property owners who put their trust in the agency have endured great inconvenience and financial disadvantage,” said consumer Protection commissioner, David Hillyard.
The punishments were handed down by the State Administrative Tribunal last month.
