Attracting new business is the life blood for any business, in particular for real estate agents to ensure your agency stays profitable.

Sometimes this might be hard to accomplish and ideas on how to jump start your business can be tough to come by.

Luckily enough we have spoken to a number of the top selling agents from last financial year here in Australia, and they have each given us their top three tips for attracting new business, while also telling us how they spend their working week.

What are your top three tips for attracting new business?

1. Be available and knowledgeable. I do a lot in the community and know the market so people come to me for advice often.

2. Always get back to people and go the extra mile, be ready for anything and learn to adapt to change quickly, it’s a bipolar industry, if you want stability it’s not the job for you.

3. Be positive and energetic, learn to pick yourself up when things go bad quickly and move on, whatever happens you are always “fantastic”!

What does your usual working week look like?

My working week starts every day at 5am when it’s quiet and you’re refreshed. I go over anything that needed tidying up from the day before and get ready and organised for the day.

I am always on call and never really switch off from the job. My days are always busy and full but I usually don’t need to work late. I am available but at home with no makeup and bra from around 5pm.

I have a great team I can rely on, and I take short breaks away (1-2 nights every 2 months) at somewhere luxurious but close to home and I am still available by phone and email. I allow myself a 1.5 hour massage once a week and make sure I do things that I love as much as I can. I own the business so pretty much have to be on call. Wouldn’t be doing anything else!
