South Australia’s Whyalla and Millicent were among the regions with lowest median rent values in the nation last year.
According to data from CoreLogic’s Best of the Best 2017 report, SA areas took out four of the top 10 places for lowest median rent.
The rest of the list was dominated by cheap rental units located in the Gladstone Region of Queensland.
The lowest median unit value was recorded in South Gladstone at $120,964 with median rent of $120 a week.
In SA, Whyalla Stuart was the third lowest with a median unit and rent value of $146,462 and $135 respectively.
Whyalla Stuart was followed by Millicent ($172,655 and $143) and Whyalla Norrie ($158,967 and $150). Whyalla was 10th ($166,005 and $153).
Whyalla was brought back from the brink of ruin last July after Liberty House purchased the Arrium steelworks.
Sales figures from The Real Estate Institute of South Australia (REISA) for the September 2017 quarter, showed that median house prices in Whyalla had increased over 30%, on the June 2017 quarter.
